Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) Program

Beginning October 1st, employers in Massachusetts (including staffing firms) will be required to implement a new payroll tax withholding for the Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program.

The benefit, signed into law and being implemented in multiple phases, is intended to provide temporary income replacement for employees who take a leave from work for medical reasons.

Part of the law requires employers to have each employee sign off on this new law. American Labor Services will be meeting with employees in Massachusetts throughout September to notify them of what the new benefit is and how it is being taxed. We will also clarify any questions employees have about the new benefit.

In order to abide by the new state mandated law, American Labor Services must notify every one of its employees working in Massachusetts in writing by September 30, 2019.

We will attempt to call in as many workers as we can during off hours but may need to visit the customer on certain circumstances. To minimize disruptions at workplaces, we will schedule client visits during employee lunch hours or break times. If you have any questions or need more information, you can contact your recruiter or client manager directly.

Thank you for your understanding,
